Abstract
Although most Korean adults have a natural immunity to hepatis A virus (HAV), HAV infection is re-emerging endemic disease in Korea these days. HAV is a self-limited disease in most cases, but some patients showed serious neurological complications, secondary to acute HAV infection. Acute transverse myelitis (ATM) is caused by various conditions that cause inflammation of the spinal cord and adjacent central nervous systems. Although it is rare, various viral infections might be the possible etiologies of ATM. We report a patient with systemic HAV infection, who showed acute motor weakness and sensory change of the lower extremity.
